Thanks to Turkey’s successful restrictions and 17-day lockdown during May, the country was able to bend the curve on Covid-19. In addition to Turkey’s current vaccination campaign, Turkey hopes to keep the curve bent.  On May 31, 2021 President Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Turkey will invoke a “controlled normalization” throughout the country. These new measures will lighten the current restrictions in the country.

Currently, Turkey will continue with a curfew of 22:00-05:00 Mondays through Saturdays. Sundays will remain as lockdown until further notice.

Cafés and restaurants are now open from 07:00-19:00 at fifty percent capacity in all provinces except for very high risk ones. Gyms and other sport functions are now open again.
All pre-schools, elementary schools, and high schools grades 8-12 will now resume face-to-face classes.

Turkish Universities are set to reopen on September 13, 2021 for the new academic year.
