What is a HES code?
A HES code (Hayat Eve Sığar) is a code that you need to have in order to travel on inter-city transport in Turkey.
Who needs a HES code?
- Both Turkish residents and foreign nationals need a HES code
- Everyone travelling domestically within Turkey (Bus, Train, Plane)
How do I get a HES code?
To apply for a code you must have access to a mobile phone registered by a mobile network in Turkey.
You must send an SMS with the following information to the number 2023. Please be sure to follow the following format:
HES [Space] NATIONALITY [e.g CAD] [Space] PASSPORT NUMBER [Space] YEAR OF BIRTH [Space] YOUR SURNAME [SPACE]
- e.g. HES CAD 12345678 1985 SMITH
Important!
Make sure you use the same passport that you used to enter Turkey. Don’t forget, the text message must be sent from a mobile registered on a Turkish network.
